LTS continuing to challenge perceptions of Down syndrome
Following on from the successful launch of their three 18 tonne vehicles in support of the Down syndrome initiative, Positive about Down syndrome (PADS) earlier in the year, Birmingham based LTS Global Solutions have gone bigger and better with an artic trailer showcasing children and young people with Down syndrome.
LTS Managing Director Dave Hands, whose daughter Ella features on the trailer says,
“With our three previous vehicles being so well received by our employees, people within the Down syndrome community and the general public, we wanted to expand on that and what better way to do it than show casing the wonderful work that they do and raising awareness on a bigger vehicle”.
Positive about Down syndrome is an initiative by the national charity DSUK. LTS are hoping to continue to help make a difference by raising positive awareness of Down syndrome, and to help people understand it better by displaying some wonderful images of children and young people living their best lives for all to see as their vehicles travel the country.
Down syndrome is a genetic condition where people are born with an extra chromosome, it affects 1 out of every 1000 babies born each year in the UK. Children and adults with Down syndrome may have some additional needs, but that doesn’t mean they can’t live life to the full and do many things that people without Down syndrome do!
Positive about Down syndrome (PADS) provides information and support to show the lived reality of having Down syndrome in modern Britain. Charity trustee Nicola Enoch stated that,
“PADS is extremely grateful to LTS Global Solutions for the opportunity to challenge perceptions people may hold around Down syndrome, by showing children and young people with Down syndrome leading full and rewarding lives.”
We are sure you will agree that the vehicle is eye catching, and this is the fourth vehicle that we have completed this year. We hope that it is received as positively and photographed as much by people who see it as the others.
The launch day on the 11th December at the NAEC and supported by Stoneleigh Events was attended by local children and young people with Down syndrome within Warwickshire who got to see the trailer in person, many of which feature on the vehicle and were particularly excited to sit in the trucks too! It was also an opportunity for the drivers of the vehicles to meet the individuals who feature on the vehicles that they drive around.
