Here at the NAEC Stoneleigh we acknowledge events play a significant role in various industries, bringing people together for conferences, exhibitions, and outdoor activities. However, the environmental impact of these events cannot be ignored. As the world becomes more conscious of sustainability, we are increasingly prioritising eco-friendly practices.
Events by nature, can have a substantial environmental impact. The concentration of people in a specific location over a short period often leads to increased energy consumption, transportation emissions, waste generation, and resource depletion.
By prioritising sustainability, we are aiming to reduce our carbon footprint, and the environmental impact of events, contributing to the global efforts to combat climate change and preserve natural resources.
Each event has unique requirements and constraints, making it challenging to implement standardised sustainability practices, but as a venue we have implemented eco-friendly practices such as waste management systems, energy efficient infrastructure and local sourcing programmes.
NAEC Stoneleigh is not content to stop there and will be continually reassessing its operations in a bid to cut down even more on waste.
We are on a good transportation link, and easily accessed via public transport, we actively encourage the use of greener transportation options.
Introducing our ‘hydration stations’ within the venue to reduce the number of plastic bottles used onsite. All soft drinks onsite are through our supplier CCEP, all bottles are made from recycled plastic and recyclable.
To continue our pledge to engage in a sustainable operation, we have introduced recycling stations throughout the venue. Our waste goes through the vigorous sorting system run by the local council which specifically separates all the recyclable elements and treats them accordingly. Even the non-recyclable waste is sent to a processing plant which turns ‘waste to energy’.
As a venue, we work closely with and collaborate with local vendors, and suppliers to support the local economy and reduce our ecological footprint. For more information on our catering sustainability policy, please see below.
We understand that sustainability is a continuous journey, and our aim is to continually reassess and improve our practices. Through our sustainable initiatives, we hope to set an example for other event venues and bring awareness to the importance of sustainability in the events industry.
As a team, we are committed to promoting and implementing eco-friendly practices throughout our operations and all events held at the venue. We encourage our clients and visitors to join us in our efforts to reduce our environmental impact and work towards creating a more sustainable future for all.
