This is without doubt the biggest garden railway show in the UK, some think, in Europe. A bold claim? The Association of 16mm Narrow Gauge Modellers has run a show every year since its inception in 1977. It brings together all the major suppliers to the garden railway hobby, a range of layouts large and small, showcasing what the hobby is about and providing encouragement and inspiration to members and non-members. It includes the Association’s premier modelling competition, a large, busy and vibrant member-to-member sales stand and is where we hold our Annual General Meeting. We’ve selected Hall Two at the NEAC, not only because it provides all the space we need, it also puts very nearly 60% of our members within two and a half hours drive of the venue. Most will come by car, so abundant, free on-site parking is key, but the venue’s proximity to the West Coast Main Line is important to some, so we’ve arranged a shuttle bus to get them quickly and safely between Coventry station and the venue. Most will be hungry when they arrive, so high quality on-site catering is also an attraction. We expect at least half our UK-based members to attend, but some will come from Europe and further afield, including Australia, South Africa and the North America. This is the Association’s flagship event and a major item in most garden railway modellers’ diaries.
